Remembering Christine Cardwell Doughty

Administrator

Christine had been at Cardwell since 1969, but also worked part-time with her parents in Volusia County's first crematory from 1967 to 1976. After working as an apprentice embalmer from 1979 to 1984, she transitioned into an administration role.

A native of Port Orange, Christine graduated from Mainland High School and received her AA from Daytona Community College. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Port Orange, the Port Orange Historical Trust and the Halifax Sport Fishing Club. She enjoyed off-shore fishing and won several Lady Tournaments in Florida, and had fished throughout the United States, the Bahamas and Costa Rica.

Christine always felt her greatest contributions to life were the families she has served through Cardwell Funeral Home, her long marriage to her husband, Eddie, their son, three daughters and 10 grandchildren.
